Birthmark Removal
Birthmark removal is primarily a cosmetic surgery, but in some cases, a certain type of birthmark can lead to cancerous effects later in life. There are four main types of birthmarks, pigmentation-type, macular stains, vascular malformations, and hemangiomas. Each is caused by a specific occurrence during birth, but they all can be treated by either laser removal or surgical removal. The method chosen by a patient should be carefully considered with the assistance of a dermatologist. Laser removal may take more than one session, and costs of both are relatively equal. Only mild pain is felt from laser removal. Both require careful recovery time in which the treated area must be handled with utmost caution.
